Erosion control blankets
COMPACT
PROTECTION
With NeiG erosion control blankets, you can choose from various options to suit your specific projects and requirements. The main differences between the blankets, primarily made from straw, straw/coir, or coir, lie in their durability – we are happy to provide you with expert advice on the details, so feel free to ask us!
The blankets themselves consist of loose fibers and plant materials, which are compactly held together by a top and bottom net. The net is made from either polypropylene or natural fibers. For environmental and species protection reasons, you can always choose the 100% biodegradable version made from renewable resources.
We also offer blankets made from wood wool and custom-made solutions, and we are happy to provide individual options tailored to your construction project.
STRAW
BLANKETS
Then the NeiG erosion control blanket made from straw is certainly the right choice. With a 100% straw cover, it is sewn with a backing of either PP net or jute fabric, along with a PP or natural fiber thread. All NeiG straw erosion control blankets can also be supplied with integrated seeds. For this, a carrier paper with the desired landscape grass seed or, as required by the Federal Nature Conservation Act, regional seed (RegioSaatgut) is sewn onto the blanket.
The NeiG straw erosion control blanket is suitable for mildly erosion-prone areas with slopes of up to 1:5.7 (<10°) for temporary surface erosion protection. Its functional lifespan is up to 12 months or one growing season, depending on site conditions, soil, water, and climate factors, as well as the level of erosion risk at the location.
STRAW/COIR
BLANKETS
The NeiG erosion control mats made from straw/coir have a cover consisting of 50% straw and 50% coconut fiber, and are sewn on both sides with a backing of either PP or jute net, as well as a PP or natural fiber thread. All NeiG straw/coir erosion control blankets can also be supplied with integrated seeds. For this, a carrier paper with the desired landscape grass seed or with the regional seed (RegioSaatgut) required by the Federal Nature Conservation Act is sewn onto the mat.
The NeiG erosion control blankets made from straw and coir is suitable for erosion-prone areas with slopes of 10 to 25° (1:5.8 to 1:2.2) and provides temporary to mid-term surface erosion protection. Its functional lifespan is up to 24 months or two growing seasons, depending on site conditions, soil, water, and climate factors, as well as the level of erosion risk at the location.
COIR
BLANKETS
Our coir blankets feature a cover made from 100% coconut fibers and are sewn on both sides with a backing of PP or jute net and a PP or natural fiber thread. Due to their high lignin content, coir fibers are among the slow-decomposing natural fibers. They also offer excellent tensile strength.
All NeiG coconut erosion control blankets can also be supplied with integrated seeds. For this, a carrier paper with the desired landscape grass seed, or the regional seed (RegioSaatgut) required by the Federal Nature Conservation Act, is sewn onto the blanket.
The NeiG coir erosion control blanket is suitable for erosion-prone areas with slopes of 20 to 40° (1:2.7 to 1:1.2) and provides temporary to long-term surface erosion protection. Its functional lifespan is up to 36 months, or three to five growing seasons, depending on site conditions, soil, water, climate factors, and the level of erosion risk at the location.
